DESIDERIAMO SPIEGARE, NOI DONNE VICENTINE A VOI DONNE AMERICANE – RESIDENTI DENTRO UNA BASE MILITARE, LA EDERLE, PERCHE’ SIAMO IMPEGNATE CON TANTA DETERMINAZIONE E PASSIONE IN QUESTA BATTAGLIA DI RIPUDIO ALLE GUERRE E DI ANELITO ALLA PACE.
PERTANTO NOI ESPRIMIAMO CON CONVINZIONE, PACIFICAMENTE, LA NOSTRA CONTRARIETA’ ALL’INSEDIAMENTO DI UN’ALTRA BASE MILITARE AL DAL MOLIN IN VICENZAA, PENSATA NEL BEL MEZZO DEL VERDE DELLA NOSTRA BELLISSIMA CITTA’ PALLADIANA, CHE ANDREBBE AD AGGIUNGERSI ALLA GIA’ ESISTENTE EDERLE, PLUTO A LONGARE, AI TUNNEL ALLA FONTEGA E QUANT’ALTRO. RAPPRESENTIAMO COSI’ IL DISSENSO DEI CITTADINI E DELLE CITTADINE DI VICENZA AD UN PROGETTO DEVASTANTE SUL PIANO URBANISTICO E DI IMPATTO AMBIENTALE, A RISCHIO SUL PIANO STRATEGICO DI SICUREZZA, POICHE’, OSPITANDO LA 173^ BRIGATA D’ATTACCO, INTUIAMO TROVARCI DENTRO UNO SCENARIO INTERNAZIONALE DI GUERRE GIA’ ESISTENTI E FUTURE.
GUERRE CHE, A DETTA DI LARGA PARTE DELL’AMERICA ODIERNA, SONO INGIUSTE, INUTILI, PORTANO SOLO DISTRUZIONE E MORTE.. E’ COMPRENSIBILE PERCIO’ LA NOSTRA GRANDE PREOCCUPAZIONE E SOSTENIAMO CHE NON TROVIAMO RISOLVIBILE IL PROBLEMA NEPPURE CON LA PROPOSTA DELLA RIDUZIONE DEL DANNO.
VOGLIAMO RIBADIRE UN VALORE ASSOLUTO CHE E’ LA VITA DI CIASCUNO DI NOI. SE NOI DONNE SIAMO PORTATICI DI VITA E GARANTI DEI DESTINI DEI NOSTRI FIGLI, COSI’ DOBBIAMO, PER NOSTRA NATURA, GELOSAMENTE CUSTODIRE IL LORO CAMMINO DENTRO SENTIERI DI PACE, CUSTODIRE LA TERRA SU CUI PORTANO I LORO PASSI, COSTRUENDO PER LORO UN MONDO POSSIBILE CON UN PROGETTO DI VITA, DEGNA, SOSTENIBILE, PROSPERA, DURATURA , CHE SIA FATTA DI ALLEANZE LEALI BASATE SUL RISPETTO DELLE RECIPROCHE SOVRANITA’ NAZIONALI , NELLA RICCHEZZA DELLE DIVERSITA’ E DEI DIVERSI SAPERI.
CHIEDIAMO A VOI MADRI, MOGLI, FIGLIE, SORELLE, AMICHE E COMPAGNE CHE IN QUESTE GUERRE INGIUSTE AVETE GIA’ PERSO IL VOSTRO SOLDATO, SE POTRA’ MAI ESSERE COLMATO IL VUOTO CHE LASCIA LA SUA ASSENZA. PER L’AMORE PERSO , NEL CUORE DI UNA DONNA NON CI SONO EROI O MEDAGLIE, SOLO RICORDI E LACRIME. NON VOGLIAMO ENTRARE NELLE LOGICHE DI POLITICHE E STRATEGIE, VOLUTAMENTE VI CHIEDIAMO DI VOLARE ALTO CON NOI, AL DI SOPRA DI ALAMBICCHI TRA STATI, PER SEMINARE NELLE ZOLLE DEL SAPERE, DELLA SCIENZA, DELL’ARTE, DELLA TECNOLOGIA, DELLA RICERCA E PORRE LE “BASI”, QUESTE SI, PER UN MODELLO DI SVILUPPO GLOBALE EQUOSOSTENIBILE, PER L’UTILIZZO DI ENERGIE RINNOVABILI, AL FINE DI SALVARE QUESTO NOSTRO PIANETA CHE STA SOFFOCANDO NELL’INQUINAMENTO, NELL’EFFETTO SERRA, NELLA CEMENTIFICAZIONE E ANNUNCIA L’INCUBO FUTURO DI POVERTA’ ENERGETICA E D’ACQUA. ATTIVARCI CIOE’ CON LA SAGGEZZA , L’UMILTA’, IL BUON SENSO, MEDIANDO SITUAZIONI ANCHE DIFFICILI COME FACCIAMO QUOTIDIANAMENTE NEL NOSTRO RUOLO DENTRO LE NOSTRE FAMIGLIE. A QUELLE TRA NOI CHE CREDONO NEL DIALOGO, NELLO SCAMBIO DI CONOSCENZE E CULTURE.
A QUELLE CHE SENTONO CHE I CONFLITTI SI POSSONO SUPERARE SENZA L’USO DELLE ARMI, VA QUESTO APPELLO DI ADESIONE PER PORTARE AVANTI UN SFIDA AMBIZIOSA , IN SALITA, FATICOSA, MA CHE ACCETTIAMO PER VINCERE.
LE DONNE DEL NO AL DAL MOLIN
Throughout the ages women have always been united by the common threads of freedom, dignity, equality and respect for people’s rights.
We are here, today, on the 8th of March 2007, to add a new common thread: peace.
As women citizens of Vicenza, we wish to explain to you, American women living inside the American military base of Camp Ederle, why we are so determined and passionate in our fight against war (as declared in the art. 11 of the Italian Constitution) and in our longing for peace.
We want to express firmly, but peacefully, our opposition to the settlement of a new military base at the airport Dal Molin, a green area right in the middle of our beautiful town, architecturally enriched by Andrea Palladio’s genius.
The project of a new base would be the umpteenth military installation after the already existing Ederle, Pluto in Longare, the tunnel in Fontega and we don’t know what else…
Therefore, in the expression of our opposition, we give voice to the disagreement of the entire population of our town against a project which could be really devastating as for town planning and environment impact on Vicenza.
Last, but not least, this still hypothetical base could be a serious risk from the point of view of a security strategical plan since it would accommodate the 173° Brigade, a military forc e already operating in the major battlefields.
In accepting this, we could be a party to an international war scenery that we consider unfair, unnecessary and destructive for it brings pain, poverty and death. And we know that a major part of the American population shares this opinion.
Therefore, we think that our concern is all the more justified, to the point that we cannot consider as feasible the so-called ‘damage reduction’, a proposal that someone has tried to present as the ‘solution’ to the problem.
We want once more to assert life as the absolute and fundamental human value. Since we, as women, are the creators of our children’s life and since during all their life we are responsible for their destiny, how couldn’t we show them the way without believing in peace, without building for them the best possible world, without laying the bases for a worthy and sustainable life, made of fair alliances in the respect of one another’s sovereignty and cultural differences?
We want to ask you, who are mothers, sisters, daughters, friends, like us, To you, that in these unfair wars might have lost your partner, Could you tell us if the gap of his absence will ever be filled again? Once she has lost her love, In a woman’s heart there’s no place for heroes nor for medals, but only for memories and tears.
We’re here to ask you to fly high with us over and beyond politics and strategies between states in order to sow new seeds in the fields of knowledge, science, art, technology and scientific research and laying the bases (and only this kind of bases!) for a pattern of fair and sustainable global development and for the use of alternative energy sources in order to preserve our world from dying for pollution, greenhouse effect, overbuilding and lack of water and energy.
We’re here to ask you to engage yourselves in a role of a gobetween, like we are doing, since this is our innate role in life. Every day we’re asked to play this role inside our families, even in the most difficult situations, and we play it with modesty, common sense and wisdom.
We address our appeal to those among you who believe in the possibility of communicating and exchanging culture and knowledge, to those who are certain that conflicts can be solved without physically fighting and destroying other people, to those who want to accept this difficult challenge but only in order to win.
